Suarez denies MLS and joins his boyhood club

Luis Suarez has announced via social media that he has signed a pre-contract with Nacional before finalising his transfer to his boyhood club in Uruguay. The club at which the Uruguayan historical goalscorer made his football debut 17 years ago. After days of speculation and pleading by Nacional fans, former Barcelona attacker Luis Suarez has decided he will go and play for the club he started his professional career with. Barcelona’s Luis Suarez was considered by English Premier League club Aston Villa and linked with a move to the MLS, but eventually decided to return to Nacional, his boyhood club.

It may have seemed impossible for some, but that dream has come true, with Luis Suarez returning to his homeland of Uruguay during a year of the World Cup and returning to Nacional, in Uruguay’s homeland. The #suarezanacional [Luis Suarez at Nacional] hashtag has been trending for weeks, primarily thanks to the club’s fans, who are desperate to see the national icon come home. The efforts by Nacional to bring him back home to his native Uruguay were not just online; they were also on the ground, as the clubs President Jose Fuentes went to Madrid to personally meet with Luis Suarez.

Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez’s second season with Atletico Madrid was not so successful. Before the last home match, the club announced that Suarez had been given no new contract and was leaving as a free agent. This raised hopes for many teams, including the Premier League side Aston Villa where he would have gotten a chance to regroup with his former teammate Gerrard, the club manager. Many recently thought he would be joining the MLS because that’s where all the stars go when they are done with European football or before retiring.

Los Angeles FC was the MLS team cashing in for Suarez. It could have been an excellent signing for them as they got the Wales winger earlier in the transfer window from Real Madrid and also the great defender Giorgio Chiellini. It would have been chaos if they had received the service of Suarez. Imagine Bale on the wing and Suarez in the middle both the players would have linked very nicely as they had previously played in the same league.

Luis Suarez could have been a threat in Los Angeles as he is excellent in the centre and effective in the box as he gets in a perfect position, allowing him to create shot chances. With Bale on the wing, it would have been pace plus precision in the team.
