With FIFA 21 set to be released in the near future, fans of the MLS will have been getting excited about the ratings some of their favourite players will have received.
Indeed, those fans who like placing wagers on esportbetting markets such as the FIFA video series, will also have some interest in seeing what the stars of the North American league have been rated.
There are no real surprises to the top five on the list to have been published by the official MLS website, although it would not be a surprise if Gonzalo Higuain went in at number one (or near the top) following his move to Inter Miami where he will join Blaise Matuidi.
Here are the top five players with their overall ratings – although we have to reserve a special mention for Javier Hernandez, with the Los Angeles Galaxy star only receiving a ranking of 78.
Carlos Vela – 83 Overall
The Mexican forward is the joint-best player – according to the FIFA ratings – to currently be playing in the MLS. Indeed, it is perhaps not a shock to many, as the Los Angeles FC forward has been hugely prolific since returning from a rather difficult European adventure.
Carlos Vela has been a huge success for LAFC, having bagged 50 goals in just 62 appearances for the club.
Blaise Matuidi – 83 Overall
A new addition, Blaise Matuidi enters the list as the other best-player to currently star in the MLS. The France international joined the Inter Miami franchise earlier in the summer and has already started to make an impression for his new club, despite having only played in a few league matches so far.
Josef Martinez – 81 Overall
Perhaps a player who could be argued to have a better overall rating, Josef Martinez is third on the FIFA 21 list of best players in the MLS. The Atlanta United forward has been incredibly prolific in front of goal for his franchise, as the former Venezuela international striker has managed to score 77 goals in 84 MLS appearances – having registered an impressive 90 goals in 103 appearances across all competitions for the club.
Nani – 80 Overall
Portuguese winger, Nani, is the next player to feature on the list of the top FIFA 21 players in the MLS and it should not be surprising. A former Manchester United player, Nani has been a star for Orlando City SC since he arrived in the MLS and has since gone on to become one of their most influential players – which is fitting considering he is their captain.
Cristian Pavon – 79 Overall
When Los Angeles Galaxy initially managed to bring Cristian Pavon to the MLS from Boca Juniors, many were absolutely shocked as the Argentine looked to be a player destined for a top move to a European club. Nonetheless, the Californian outfit managed to convince him to join them permanently and he has since gone from strength-to-strength, thus making him the fifth-best player in the MLS according to FIFA 21.
