Capello, caps, bruises … and Rambo?

It's all action in the world of David Beckham, with a wide range of news about the England midfielder streaming in from around the globe.

The most important information came from FA headquarters at Soho Square in London, where England manager Fabio Capello sat down with a group of national team fans to discuss a range of issues. The supporters felt strongly that Beckham should be given the chance to win his 100th cap and got the response they were looking for from Capello. This article by Shaun Custis in the Sun newspaper gives a good indication of Capello's current mindset regarding the Los Angeles Galaxy star.

In Shanghai this week, Beckham suffered a knock above his right knee in the Galaxy's friendly victory over a combined Shanghai-Hong Kong side. However, he is confident it will not be a long-term problem.

And then there's this from the entertainment world.

Even though Beckham has repeatedly insisted he is not interested in an acting career, Hollywood heavyweight Sly Stallone revealed how he wanted to cast Becks in the lead role in his latest "Rambo" movie.

THOUGHT OF THE DAY

"It is down to English players if they decide they want to play abroad but for me, English football is the best. I love playing here and I am pretty sure that will never change" – Wayne Rooney, Manchester United.
