Hogwash. The Galaxy not only have a medical staff, but an insurance company; as do Adidas, MLS, and probably ESPN for that matter. Beckham's "self-evaluations" would never have been taken at face value. Players are asked how they feel, not to read their own MRI's, and a player that valuable to team and sponsors isn't even allowed to decided what recreational activities they can take part in--let alone what risks they take that might jeopardize their careers (and investor's returns).

I'm surprised that Mr Lalas has the nerve, especially as an ex-player, to try to lay off responsibility for when and how long Mr Beckham was on the pitch at his feet. Whether he begged to be or not (and competetive players ALWAYS beg to) is completely irrelevant. That decision is not the player's job and if the Galaxy dodged it, they are even more responsible for the results. Clearly they made some serious mistakes, it happens, they should FINALLY just say so and move on in a more responsible manner. Something I thought they were doing, until I see Mr Lalas wasting more time reversing previous remarks, and disparaging his player along the way...two things that should not surprise me.

I don't think it's the money. Beckham is the highest paid MLS player. Average MLS salary is around 52 thousand a year, which is pennies compared to the EPL.

This must be big news! Becks is sure to ignite MLS with his style. But as for playing, it may not be as good as expected. After all, he is well and truly past his peak ;)

Hm.....Angel was an Aston Villa discard. Wonder why EPL players are attracted to MLS so much - money? Probably. Its not fame - there just isn't more fame at MLS than EPL.
