The MLS Cup-champion Columbus Crew fell to D.C. United, 2-1, Tuesday morning at the IMG Academies in Bradenton, Fla., in its first preseason exhibition match of 2009. Read more in the Weekly Update.
He is the unofficial mayor of Columbus and the way people in these parts complained lately about the snow and ice removal on the streets, Frankie Hejduk would probably win in a landslide over Columbus Mayor (and ardent Crew supporter) Michael Coleman if the election were held today.

The MLS Cup-champion Columbus Crew continues preparations for the 2009 season, departing Thursday for Florida to begin a two-week training camp in Bradenton.
The Columbus Crew coach belatedly held the first preseason training session for the defending MLS Cup champions Thursday morning at an indoor facility north of the city.

U.S. Men's National Team head coach Bob Bradley has called 20 players back to U.S. Soccer's National Training Center in Carson, Calif. - including five from the MLS Cup-champion Columbus Crew - to begin preparations for the USA's first match of final round qualifying for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The defending-champion Columbus Crew will begin defense of its 2008 MLS Cup title next week as it opens its first training camp under new head coach Robert Warzycha.
Ricardo Iribarren didn't know when he first joined the Columbus Crew midway through the inaugural 1996 season that some of the traits the fiery Argentinean defender displayed would eventually lead to his rejoining the club as an assistant coach more than a dozen years later.
